One hundred twenty-three long-term skilled volunteers serve as diverse, affirming role models and informal mentors for LGBTQ+ youth. Many alums cite the volunteers as the highlight of their Lambert House experience. Volunteers contributed 15,480 hours in direct service with youth in one recent year, equivalent to 7.4 FTE staff. Using volunteers allows Lambert House to serve many more youth in a much wider array of programs than we could with only paid staff. Most volunteers have staff-level responsibilities, and their contributions of time and expertise also make Lambert House extremely cost-effective.
